Lost in the supermarket
Lost in the supermarket is the project for Persuasive Services focusing on food consumption and the environment.
Food production and consumption has a major impact on the environment. In the last years the awareness about this issue have been growing both in media and among consumers. It is now clearer that what we eat affect the environment and that we as a society has to change in order to create a sustainable food production.
In the western economies the supermarket is a food hub where people get most or even all of their groceries. During the last decades we have become used to shelves filled with tropical fruit, ready-made dinners and exotic fish. However there is still little information in and around the supermarket about the environmental impact of the products that we buy. For example, even though we might know that it is often better to buy local food, that information is unavailable to us when it really has an effect: in the moment of buying.
